Re: You Say/ You Think - all boys (long)

This is my son Linus John Paul
say: Hi, Linus. I love your name.
think: I've actually met a Linus! That's so cool! I'm not sure I'd pair it with John Paul, but it's not bad, and John Paul is a nice middle name set.
This is my son Ezra Sergius Karol
say: Hello, Ezra.
think: Okay, Ezra has never been a favorite of mine, Sergius is a little better, but Ezra Sergius Karol all together is a little much. If they wanted a prophet's name, Elijah Sergius Karol sounds so much better to me. Ezra wouldn't be bad with a different mn, either--Ezra Sergius just sounds so stuffy and trying-to-be-scholarly to me.
This is my son Isaac Ariel we call him Ike.
say: Hi, Isaac.
think: Please don't insist I shorten it to Ike, I like Isaac so much better. Zac wouldn't be so bad, but I just don't like Ike. I'm not so sure Ariel is the right mn for Isaac, either; it's not awful, but the flow just doesn't seem right--the two names just end up squishing together into Isaacariel when I try to say it, unless I really make an effort to separate them.
This is my son Russell Ira
say: Hi, Russell.
think: Hmmm, not bad. Neither name is really my style, and Ira sounds slightly unfinished at the end there, but it's not bad.
This is my son Curtis Florian
say: Hi, Curtis.
think: Curtis, that's cool. Florian, ehh, it's ok; a little too frilly/flowery for my tastes.
This is my son Leonti Gamaliel we call him Leo
say: Hi, Leonti. I love your name; I've never heard it before.
think: Awwww, don't shorten it to plain Leo; it's such a cool name. Gamaliel is interesting, too; I'm not sure yet if I like it, but I think it'll grow on me.
This is my son Ezekiel Conrad we call him Zeke
say: Hi, Zeke.
think: Okay, I'd probably him Zekiel, not Zeke, but it's not bad. It's funny; I like Zekiel, but the full Ezekiel isn't really my style. I guess I just don't like Ez's at the beginning of names, lol. I probably wouldn't pair it with Conrad, either, but it's okay.
This is my son Isidore Ignatius we call him Dory.
say: Hi, Dory.
think: Now there's a cute nn. The combo's a little heavy on the i's, but both names are nice.
This is my son Augustine Jude we call him Gus
say: Hi, Augustine.
think: Nooooo, don't shorten it! It's too cute to shorten now, and it'll be so classy when he grows up. Besides, I've never cared for Gus. ;-) It's a beautiful combo, too.
This is my son Elliott Ambrose
say: Hi, Elliott.
think: Ehh, I want to like Ambrose; it's such a similar style to other names I love, but I just can't get behind it. It's nice on someone else's kid, though.
This is my son Eliezer Luke we call him Eli
say: Hi, Eli.
think: Luke is nice, but I don't like Eliezer. It shouldn't be that bad, but I don't care for the sound, and it reminds me of the word "sleazy." Eli is nice, though, so at least there's a good nn to go by.
