Hope was doing very poorly for a long time. She refused to trust me or her new sisters and usually just ignored us. Obviously, she refused therapy or counseling. We tried to put her in school but she kept getting in fights, so I homeschooled her. It didn't work very well. But Anna is very traumatized as well. She witnessed her mother kill her father and is severely afraid of strangers, as well as adults. I think she was immediately fascinated with Hope, seeing her in a similar state that she was in. Whenever Hope made a crude insult or joke, trying to break Anna into tears and make her go away, Anna wouldn't get it (because she is only 6, obviously). I think that innocence inspired Hope. They have a fairly good -- though far from stable -- relationship. Sofia sometimes is able to talk with them too. Hope is now doing better at school and we may put her back in public school in a year or so.Thank you for bringing us Hope -- though she is difficult to take care of, she has a very determined spirit and we are very glad she is in our home.-Sari, Hope, Anna, and Sofia Seppänen
