Hi, Cheryl! Yep, this is an on-going project of Mike's, begun in 1996 when it was the first site of its kind on the 'net. :)
One reason why you may have noticed a number of "omissions" is because Mike carefully researches each name before putting it on the website. Mike not only consults printed and online reference sources, he also asks others with expertise in particular areas to give him input on each entry. The meanings of the names which you do see on this site, can be trusted for their accuracy.
It's not the quantity which matters so much here, as the quality. :)
If you'd like to submit some names to Mike, Mike generally asks that you e-mail your submissions to mike-AT-behindthename.com
Be sure to put all submissions with their meanings into the same format which you see Mike using for his database. I'm sure Mike will give them his consideration. :)
