how to pronounce
I go by gia-nina (4 syllables). I'm named after an old song called "Gianina Mia" and that is how they pronounce it. My family is spanish with italian heritage, and the pronounciation of those who speak either language sounds like jah-nina because the first two syllables slur together with the natural accent of the latin languages.

That is correct - in Italian, 'gi' or 'ge' is used to represent the English 'j', so Gianina is pronounced ja-NEE-na, Gianna is JAN-a, Giuseppe is juh-SEP-ee, Giulia is pronounced JU-lee-a, Gemma is pronounced JEM-a, Genoveffa is pronounced jen-oh-VEFF-a . . . etc.:-)
