According to American folklore, (some) American Indians called the cougar by a name that means 'Ghost of the Rockies'. One example:
"...the mountain lion, a hunter so stealthy that the American Indians called it "the ghost of the Rockies." (from 'USA Today').
My questions:
What is that (alleged) Indian name?
What is the language or tribe from which it supposedly comes?
Who invented this idea? (if it is invented).
Thanks for your help!
