Hi
I too named my daughter Tasma in 1998. This was following a visit to Tasmania. thinking I was having a boy I had sort of selected the name Tasman and then modified it to Tasma. Have since heard that it was once a popular name in Australia during the 50s especially in Tasmania. Also am aware of the name 'Tasma' as a brand of valve radio, now quite rare and valuable. Does anyone know more?
Regards
Sue

HelloMy name is Diederika and my last name is Tasma.
The name Tasma is already very old and was founded in the Netherland.
Original is the correct name Tasman but troughout the years the name was written falls in the register.
Is goes back in the time that Abel Tasman was born in the Netherlands in which year I do not know at the moment, but if you want I can find it out for you. He was sailormen and wanted to travel around. He sailed to the south and discovered an Island and called it Tasmanie.Best regardsDiederika Tasma

No, but...If Tasma had been given the pretty middle name of "Sienna", her first and first names would anagram as: "I, Satan's Name". :)-- Nanaea

Typo: "first and *middle* names..."

I think that they were really into the cartoons, and named her after the Tasmanian Devil...There was a guy who wrote in on haggisbutt, that his son's named was Wylie, and that they named him after Wile E. Coyote.

Couldn't find anything for you on the name "Tasma". My guess is that this may be one of many variations on the name Thomasina -- which include Tamsin and Tasmine. Click on the blue hyperlink to find the meaning.-- Nanaea
