The closest name I can think of is Zannis, which is a nickname for John somewhat frequesnt in Laconia. I found no reference to Zane in http://www.lgpn.ox.ac.uk/ which is teh ultimate compedium of Hellenic names. What is the Hellenic spelling of the Zane you are referring to?
