Here's a shot at "Aftan":
According to one source, Aftan (or Aeftan) is Old English for "behind, from behind" (Daividh, please no wisecracks about ancient Greek connotations :P)
According to another source, Aftan means "the sun" in Hindu. If I were you, I'd stick to this interpretation :)
