What is the meaning or background of this name?
Jilly's mother is Columbian and her father was Flemmish. She was born in Columbia. If you could find anything on the meaning or on the background/origin of this name I would be most greatful.
Yours Sincerely

Hi Ryan ,
I'd say it's a variant of the English "Jill " or "Gillian ". You can check Mike 's meaning for Gillian by clicking on the blue-printed name.
Another site also says Jilly is English and a variant of Gillian , but gives the meaning as "Jove's [Roman god Jupiter ] child".
"Jilly Coppercorn" is the principal character in several urban fantasy novels and stories by the Canadian writer Charles De Lint.
Hope that helps.
