Re: The name Wanell
in reply to a message by 'Cole
Nice to see you around these parts again, 'Cole ! Upon doing a 'net search on "Wanell", I was surprised to see that a number of women seem to have borne this name -- over the past hundred years or so.The best I can figure, is that "Wanell" is an alternate spelling -- or anglicization -- of the name "Juanell" or "Juanelle" or "Juanella". All of these are forms of the name "Juana " (click on the blue link for meaning). The reason why I believe this, is because I did find at least one genealogy on the 'net in which the daughter had been given the middle name of "Wanell", while her grandmother's first name was "Juanell".http://www.familyorigins.com/users/w/e/b/Jay-Stephen-Webb/FAMO3-0001/d70.html-- Nanaea

I just clicked on the blue link, and you know what's funny? "Juana " is a Spanish and feminine form of "John ", and that's my Grandpa's name. Okay, maybe that's not funny, but it's an interesting cowinky-dink!
