Dé Luain is the Irish for Monday which AFAIK comes from the Irish word for the moon. However it seems the name Luan has a different origin.
BTN surname's page gives the meaning of Luan as being a word for warrior.

I believe Luan is the word for Monday in Irish Gaelic.
