i am writing a story about a girl that has a very strong connection to animals and i want her name to mean something

patron saints

I have an interest in the legends related to patron saints in the Roman Catholic tradition. "Very strong connection to animals" makes me think of St. Francis of Assisi. Another saint who was said to be associated with/a disciple of this St. Francis was St. Claire. So some ideas for your character:

Clare

Francesca
Frances
Francine

etc.

Philippa seems the perfect name for a lover. Many nn too: Pip, Pippa, Flip, Flippa, Pippi or even Piper.
