Guilemus - What is the etymology of Guilemus
I just found a Guilemus in my family tree from 1614 in Warwickshire, England. Does anyone know the etymology of this name? His father was a Nicholai. Guilemus son was named Nicholas. Nicholas had sons named William and Richard and Thomas. However, the name Guilemus never occurs in the family tree.

Sounds to me like it would be a Latinized version of William.Surrealism is the magical surprise of finding a lion in a wardrobe where you were sure of finding shirts - Frida Kahlo

Thanks for the info. Latinized versions were apparently commonly used on written documents in the 1500s.
