Need you ask....name definition

You guys are great. You've helped me out b4 and so 6 months later, I return with another query (sp).Okay, what does the name Sarayu mean. It belongs to a dear female friend of mine. She's East Indian [like from India.] The name is Indian that's all I know.Any help would be appreciated.Thanx

real definition!sarayu does not have anything to do with afghanistan. it is the name of a puranic river in india---often mentioned in the classic "ramayana" epic.

SarayuIn addition to Pavlos ' info on the holy river in Afghanistan, "Sarayu" is also a Sanskrit name of India which means "moving fast", and also "air; wind".-- Nanaea

According to several sources, Sarayu is the name of a holy river in Afghanistan.
