It's probably a spambot.
Nope...
It's not a very smart person, though - often there aren't even any URLs linked in the message, just a list of drugs or flowers or whatever. It's idiotic. Sometimes s/he comments on the BtN site, and even asks not to be deleted. If not for that I would have thought it was a bot too, and would not have posted a message to the person. =P

The lack of links . . .
I was thinking about that, and I think I know what's going on there. There's an HTML code which allows you to 'embed' a link in a word (so that the word itself becomes the link, the way our database names do), but Mike doesn't allow that HTML to be used by all and sundry on the boards. I reckon the lists in those spam posts are supposed to be embedded links, but they're showing up as lists because the HTML isn't permitted.

I second that. The mentioned posts, in the form that they really and finally appear on the forum, are of no use for the spammer. Almost certainly it is an attempt to make a post with many links in it, but the links fortunately do not turn up as such.

Woah, don't give them any hints! ;-) You're probably right, I thought of that...
Still, a message that ends "please don't delete this message" after I've deleted several of them one after the other says to me it's probably a human being posting. One that is too dumb to read their message after posting and see that the links don't work? I dunno. I thought it can't hurt to post a message just in case, because the spammer might be the same one who tried to post a message to the site owner exchanging ad links, and might actually be dumb enough not to realize that spamming the board is something the site owner would find obnoxious.
If it was really that stupid of me, I expect this thread to be vaporized real soon...
