Martínez and Santos are spanish last names. Martínez is a "patronimic" last name, it's composed by the name Martino and the sufix "-ez" and means: son of Martino (just like Fernández means "son of Fernando").
Santos means "saints" and is very common in latin America, specially in Mexico.

Well said, Professor
the -ez part means 'son of', so Martinez is 'son of Martin'.
Mayora means 'great' or 'the great', like the Dutch 'De Groot'.
