Isolde
What is the common USA prn. of Isolde? This database says i-SOL-de, but I recently heard ih-ZOLD. Could the second one be correct? TIA.

I have heard it pronounced Ih-Zold. That is the way that the creators of the movie Tristan and Isolde pronounce it as well. I find that pronunciation more attractive than Eye-zold, Ih-sold, or Eye-solde.

I think it's pronounced ih-ZOLD here (as you mentioned) but I find that sound very unattractive. I pronounce it (I'm Californian) ee-SOL-duh/ee-SAL-duh (very slight "uh" and a cross between a z and s for the sol/sal part)and I've gotten "corrected" by people here. (I explain to them very nicely that there are a few ways to pronounce it because it's used in various European countries.) I've heard it as those two plus ee-ZAL-duh, ee-ZALD, ee-SOLD, and ih-ZALD. I think that there is enough variation in the pronunciation that you can just pick the one you like and use it.
