Does anyone have info on the male Norwegian name Erling?

It's also used in Denmark, so I have some info.
Taken from my name book (Translated into English):
Old Nordic name which is believed to be derived from the word "jarl" (earl). Erling should in reality have meant "søn af en jarl" (son of an earl).
Since all nordic languages have their big similarities, I would say that also counts for Norway and Sweden. I hope I was to some help.
