One near London has the same origin as "Kempton" nearby; one in Northumberland has as its first element Old English "cyne-" ("royal"); one in Suffolk may have the same origin as either of the two preceding examples, or it may get its first element from the Old English personal name "Cyna", a short form of the various compound names with the first element "cyne-" ("royal"); one in Devon is so called from its situation on the river "Kenn", which bears an old British name of uncertain origin.
