Origin of my first name
I am a black female with a history of American Indians in my family. My mother best friend named me: Onicie Machae and I was wondering if there's any information on the meaning,if any, of my name.
I would greatly appreciate any help on this matter.
Sincerely,
Nicie

Machae is from Macha, meaning 'aurora' and it originates from the Sioux language.

Onicie is from the old names Onicia and Onicius used in Quebec (so it's a combination of English and French). Probably a form of Nitius, which is a form of Vinitius, meaning 'wine-grower' or at least related to the Latin word vinitor , which means 'wine-grower'.
