Luned - pronunciation?
This is a female Welsh name.
As far as I can tell it seems to be something along the lines of 'LIN-ed', although the first vowel sound is apparently closer to the u-umlaut sound in German.
Eluned is another variation and I think the stress falls on the same syllable here (the 2nd one).
Any help would be appreciated.

Luned is pronounced: Lin-ed. Your reference to an umlaut leads me to believe that you may have heard it pronounced in a North Welsh accent. It is true that "u" in Welsh is normally pronounced like an "ee" far back in the throat, but all the people of this name I've met have pronounced it in the way I've given. Indeed, a relative of mine called Eluned was always known as "Lynn"
It is, in fact, short for Eluned, which is pronounced: El-lin-ed, with the stress on the middle syllable, as you correctly stated.

Luh-NED is how I think it's pronounced. Can't be sure, but that's what I've heard.
I am not sure, but I think it is loo-ned.
