A Onna
Does anyone have any information on the Name E`Anna. According to the search engine it is Irish (masculine). I am looking for a Female version, but Pronounced (A-Onna) Does anyone know the correct spelling for this?
Thank you!!!!

I can only find the male version in my reference books, such as O Corrain & Maguire's Irish Names. The spelling of that name, though, does not have an apostrophe. Instead there is a diacritical mark over the E: Éanna. The name is pronounced "AY-nah", first syllable as in the word "say". According to Irish Names, the original meaning is thought to be "bird-like."
So could the name "AY-AW-nah" be used as a female version of AY-nah, (Eanna) or would it have differant origins?
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
I have no idea. I couldn't find anything like it in my reference books.

Surely if creativity is what the Society strives for, you can do pretty much what you like - so, go for it.
Sorry, it's just the opposite! The Society of Creative Anachronism is a group of people who re-enact Medieval or Renaissance culture. If you register an alter-ego persona with this society, you have to prove that the name of your character was really in use during the appropriate time period in the European culture the character was from. :)
Oh, is it that bunch? They used to have a web site at s-gabriel.org that was really interesting, but seems to have shimmered off. Hope they revive!
