My name is Malea i hear it's a form of Mary/Maria it hawiian but it sounds so different to those name how is it connected? I started going by malea at 14 because i can't stand my birth name Leah ans i liked it at the time i have heard Malea/Mileah/Maleah/Malia means "beloved" "long haired goddess" "innoncent/virgin beauty" and "bitter" does anyone have the whole truth on this name?

Technically it is the spelling Malia that is a Hawaiian name. Maria becomes Malia in Hawaiian because the Hawaiian language has no sound or letter "r", and the tradition in Hawaii is to change "r's" into "l's" when a name is brought into the Hawaiian language from another language.
