Nergis or Nargis? (female)
Are these both just the same name? Here I discovered that Nergis is a Turkish name meaning daffodil. This year I learned of a name Nargis, which I suppose has to be Arabic--it was a name of a character in my Arabic language exercises. It's a cool name but I couldn't give it to my daughter. Any informantion would be nice. Thanks.

Narges actually is thought to be derived from Narcissa (which I guess works with daffodil). Narges and Nergis are the same names, but Narges was transliterated slightly incorrectly.
my grandmother's name is Narges (spelled this way in English) and pronounced "Ner-giss", like Nergis. she is Assyrian, by the way.

That would make sense that it's from Narcissa. Thanks.
