Hi. I am curious about the meaning of the name Mariska. It's a female name and all that I could find from the internet is that it is of Hebrew origin. Other than that I can't find any other information. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

the name Mariska is an Hungarian name, meaning 'of the sea'.

According to http://www.babynamer.com , Mariska is a Hungarian form of Mary or Maria .

If the name "Mariska" is supposed to be Hebrew, it's certainly one that I've never encountered.

However, "Marisca" is Latin, and means "a large fig".

I don't know but that's the real name of the main lady on Law & Order SVU. I love that show. It closely resmebles Marissa , you might want to check into Mary .
