can't find meaning or origin anywhere

My name is Akos. I've been trying to find the meaning and the origin of my name, but unfortunately I have been unsuccessful. I am originally from Hungary, and this is a fairly popular name there(not like mike, or john here in the US, but fairly popular). By the way, it is a male gendered name, at least in Hungary. anyone have any clue?

It doesn't seem unlikely to me that it's a form of Akakios, since the -os ending seems distinctively Greek to me..

pet form of Acacius...(m)

Akos is a variant of Akacs, which is a pet form of Akacsas
Akacsas is the Hungarian form of Acacius, which can be found in the database (follow the hyperlink for the meaning). that's it :).

using google.com...i've looked for 'Akos' and 'Hungarian Names' and i found a site which said that the English equivalent of Akos was Acacius. Then i looked further and i saw Akacs and Akacsas and well, the rest was own thinking.
