I agree with the ones who say ja-KO-bee. I also knew a girl who spelled it Jacobi.

It's related to Jacob and often used as a surname.

I know a family with this surname in Kentucky and they

pronounce it juh-KOE-bee.

ja-KO-bee in South Africa

including one Charles Jacoby, who was the sort of country singer who wears fake cowboy clothing. His name was VERY frequently heard at one time ... also his voice, alas!

ditto, surname jah-KO-bee in TX

Though I know of two instances of Jacoby being used as a fn, but still pronounced jah-KO-bee - one male, one female.

I would disagree with that pronunciation - in Perth there was a famous Jacoby family who have had a number of things named after them, and those all seem to be pronounced JAK-oh-bee

I've heard both.

I think it may be a regional thing. In DC, I'll hear jac-o-bee (Don't ask me to do the accents, I can never do that) more often that not. In the midwest, I hear jah-ko-bee.
