Origin & meaning of "Dwanna"

I have searched on several sites for the name "Dwanna" and have had no luck. The gender is female. I do not know the origin of the name. I would appreciate any help you can give.

About Duana; I am in southeast Texas

and know a white woman named Dewanna. She told me once her mother had created her name as a variant of DeWanda, itself being a variant of Wanda. Perhaps Dwanna has similar origins. Everyone I have asked around me (about a dozen people - all docs and nurses right now) says they would pronounce Duana as DWAYna, like Duane, a far cry from DWAHna in Texspeak. I highly doubt Dwanna derives from Duana.

I used to work with a woman named Dwana pronounced DWAH-nah (sometimes sounds like duh-WAH-nah). She's Caucasian/Anglo-Saxon, American as well. I'm not sure if she's from Texas, but I know she lived there at one time. I don't know anything about the origin of the name, though, sorry. :-/

Variant of Duana, perhaps.
ie: feminine of Dwayne / Dwain.

Dwanna lives in Wimberley, TX, but was born and raised in the Beaumont, TX area (East Texas). Dwanna is Anglo and speaks English.

In that case, I'd say the chances are that it's an alteration of Duana (click link), as suggested already by another poster.

Oh . . . lol . . .

Chrisell isn't my real name. It's an internet screen name made up from a contraction of my first and middle names: Christine Ellen. I invented it back in the days when computers required 8-letter usernames!

Thanks for the compliment though :-) I believe that Chrisell has been invented by a couple of other people as well and used as a real first name, mostly back in the 1920s.

I was at school with a Christelle. That was her official given name, long before home computers; it was a merger based on Christina and Helene. Since she was Elizabeth Christelle Margaret on the forms, it is understandable that her parents preferred three names to four ... all of 'em family names!
