Ciliox/Ziliox Any ideas?
Hello!
Not sure where to post this...
While doing ancestry research, came across this entry for a male, living 1664 to 1719 in Contwig, Sudwestpfalz, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. Any ideas on (1) pronunciation (2) meanings? No idea what the family did for a living, but I do know that a lot of male relatives married women from Switzerland or France.
Thanks for any help!

Should be pronounced /ˈt͡siː.li̯ɔks/ (TSEEL-yawks, TSEE-lee-awks).
From what I could gather from the preview of Wilfried Seibickes "Historisches deutsches Vornamenbuch" on Google Books it appears to be a version of Cyriacus. I can't read the full article, though.
You could ask the philological department of the University of Leipzig. https://www.philol.uni-leipzig.de/namenberatungsstelle
