I am a direct descendant of Elizabeth Driggers. Recent DNA testing shows I have no Native American DNA. I do have a small amount of sub Saharan DNA.

Native American ancestry was considered more acceptable than African into the 20th C. and was a common explanation given for darker skin, however, not all your ancestor's DNA will be passed on. Perhaps the majority of ancestors from the 1800s will leave no trace in your DNA.
