My column on Brandy

I didn't realize until researching this how "American" the name Brandy seems to be. It doesn't seem to have yet been anywhere near as popular in the UK, Australia, or even Canada as it was in the USA back in the 1980s and 1990s.

I'm astonished (as a non-American, I would be!) that you could find enough information for a column. We make, and drink, a lot of brandy in South Africa, but we don't use it as a name at all. And I've never met a South African Sherry either, though that would surprise me less.
I rather like the name Brandy. Nice write up. Thank you for sharing with us.
