What made Prisca a masculine name in France?
Greetings.
I was surprised to see how Prisca, a biblical feminine name, was used by males in France in early years before being steadily used by females between the 70s and the 90s. What is the reason behind this?
Also, the traditional French form is Prisque, which is the form for both Prisca and Priscus. Compare other unisex names, such as Cyrille, Léonce, Camille or Narcisse.
