Top 225 Girls' Names on my 2022 spellings combined list, USA
I have now added together spellings for every male name where a single spelling reaches 600 and every female one where a single spelling reaches 500. I am presenting the top 225 because I can be fairly sure that if I went on to add up names where the top spelling is less than 500 that no other name would get into the top 225 for boys and at most one or two for girls. As usual, though I think a combined spellings list is very valuable information for prospective parents, putting it together always involves some subjectivity and hard decisions. One has to make one's best guess as to how most parents who are using a particular spelling are pronouncing it, and think of how that spelling would be pronounced in both English and Spanish, at a minimum. I have noted a few places where I am combining spellings I think many other people would keep separate. Of course there are also examples, such as Layla and Leila, where I keep apart spellings many others would combine.
It is interesting how doing this for the girls' list is much more time consuming and frustrating than for the boys. People respell girls' names so frequently and variably that there are many more cases where decisions are really hard to make. I think my biggest frustration is Kehlani, Kalani, Kailani, etc. These have boomed because of the publicity given them by the singer Kehlani. I know that in the original Hawaiian Kalani and Kailani are separate names with the first syllable pronounced differently. But there are such a myriad of different spellings here where so many could be pronounced in multiple ways that I just gave up and combined them all.

It's a pity that there are no statistics for nicknames. I'm convinced that the name Ellie is (in practice) a lot more popular than the statistics of Ellie as a full name suggest, considering the amount of El- names on this list.
Other examples of names that might be used as short forms of other popular names:
Ava - Avery
Mia - Amelia, Emilia
Lily - Lillian, Liliana
Nora - Eleanor
Mila 6672 - Camilla, Emilia
Ella 6397 - Isabella, Eleanor, Elizabeth etc.
Ellie 6158 - Eliana, Eleanor, Elizabeth, etc.
Charlie 5097 - Charlotte
Lucy 4637
Sophie 3724 - Sophia
Sadie 3377 - Sarah (unsure of how many people use this nickname nowadays)
Eliza 3042 - Elizabeth (same as above)
Bella 2928 - Isabella
Lainey 2574 - Delaney
Josie 2571 - Josephine, Jocelyn
Brielle 2433 - Gabrielle
Millie 2387 - Amelia, Mila, Emilia

Yes, that's one of the hard decisions. I reason that Adeline has been "stuck" with the "line" pronunciation because of the fame of the song "Sweek Adeline", and that was recently reinforced by the 2015 movie "The Age of Adaline", where the "line" pronunciation was used. So I reasoned there probably aren't many Adelines or Adalines who use the "lynn" pronunciation.
I really appreciate these lists!
It would be cool to someday have more name pronunciation data. There are some names that might have multiple pronunciations with the same spelling. Seeing Leah made me think of this, as I know American Jewish Leahs who pronounce the name closer to the Hebrew way and for me would be grouped with Leia, even though with this name I'm sure it wouldn't make a big ranking difference at all.

Yes, I think of Leah as "Lee-uh" because I had a first cousin whose name was pronounced that way, and that it is the way it is normally pronounced in Protestant churches in the USA when the Biblical character is being mentioned.
Actually, if you added Leia in with Leah it would rise 20 places in the ranks for 2022.

I was thinking about the ranking thing as if you separated out the Hebrew pronunciation Lay-uhs from the Lee-uhs. My guess is that it is few enough that the impact would be small. But maybe not! That's why it would be cool to have pronunciation data. I can't imagine that would happen, since it isn't something we typically document, but my curiosity remains.
