To obtain the old data, they have used marriage certificates. SVB only uses registered newborn children. In the very old data unmarried people weren't counted, but this still doesn't explain a discrepancy in 2017...
One small difference might occur if Meertens adds the data of the provinces, while SVB seems to count all registered Dutch babies. In that case births like my daughter's, a Dutch baby born abroad, wouldn't be counted by Meertens.
Still doesn't explain the big difference...

Please note this is about all their names and data. You can see the popularity per name as a mn too if you look for a specific one, but I don't think that's been used for the list.
Their sources are different, but I still don't see why there should be such a discrepancy in recent lists. But I do consider both sources as reputable.
