If someone could help. that would be wonderful
Hey all,
just a quick question for my sister inlaw. she has just found out she is having another baby. she is hoping for a boy and wants to know the meaning of Aslan (As-Lan) I have searched this site before this post, but cant find it. Im not 100% but i think it may have something to do with "Chronicals of Narnia"(she is a little crazy bout it) Anyway hopefully someone can help.
Thanks all.

Aslan is a variation of Arslan. These are both Turkish names meaning "lion", so it was a very appropriate name for the character. :)The above information, by the way, is from a Turkish name book I own, Adlarimiz by Aydil Erol, though I believe you could probably have also found reference to this on many sites dealing with Narnia.

Hey Cleveland,
Thank you so much for that.
So i was right about the Narnia thing lol
Well she will be very happy.
Is there anywhere you would suggest to get some info where i can print it out for her?
If not thats ok, you have been a wonderful help.
The only site i found was this one talking about Aslan and Dionysus http://www.piney-2.com/Aslan.html
Thanks

The Wikipedia article on Aslan explains the name right at the beginning and points out how the word was formerly used as a title for rulers in Turkey:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aslan
