Amalie
To keep it short and simple, I am heavily conflicted with the name Amalie. The character I’m writing is based off of a person I know IRL, I did poll and for a 18 year-old girl who’s a writer, paints, takes photographs, plays guitar, the name Amalie Griffard won. I’m not sure how Amalie is pronounced though. Whenever I look it up I get like 100 different results. I keep hearing like Emily with an A, exactly like Amalia, the European way, or something else. I had ah-MAH-lee in mind. How do you pronounce Amalie?

AH-mah-lee for sure!

From a German background and having some older generation relatives with that name, it is a-MAH-lee-uh with stress on the second syllable and four syllables in total. The third syllable can be reduced to a result like a-MAH-lyuh.--elbowin

For me myself I pronounce it with the stress at the first syllable (AH-mal-ee). You can also check the pronunciation by clicking the name Amalie.
