Xenika
This is the name of a woman currently about 35-45. I found one
reference to the Odyssey; however, I found nothing upon entering both Xenika and Odyssey on Google.

Hmm...I have looked through the Odyssey a couple of times but have not been able to find it. So I am almost sure that if it is a name from the Odyssey it must be spelt in a different manner making me miss it.

PAVLOS??? WHERE ARE YOOOOOO?Pavlos , our resident Greek, could answer this one in a snap, but he's been gone TWO WHOLE DAYS! :-(Either he's furiously anagramming in some padded cell somewhere, or he's busily preparing for his upcoming trip to France.HEY PAVLOS ! Where are yooooooo? We need yoooooo!-- Nanaea

Awe, I am sincerely touched Nan! I'm indeed furously preparing for a couple of upcoming Paris presentations next week which were thrown upon me on short notice. Gotta get them escargot eaters to invest in Greece. Will be in semi-existence mode as far as anagrams and etymologies are concerned for the next 10 dayhs or so, take care of the fortress!P.S. isnt Xenika some kind of weightloss drug?

"P.S. isnt Xenika some kind of weightloss drug?"I thought she was that femmacho chick on teevee. (Hee-hee, I made up a new word!)They better not fly you out to Paris before Sunday! The boss wouldn't make you miss your daughter's first birthday, would he?-- Nanaea

Party, anyone? :)Well, that's good then. :) Coz if you were living in the U.S . and leaving *before* Sunday, you'd be in double trouble. Not only is this Sunday Nephele 's first birthday, it's also Mothers' Day.So, what are you all doing to celebrate this Sunday? Did you hire a magician? A pony? If not, we'll just have to improvise an Athenian Princess virtual birthday party here in Behindthenameland. I can assign roles to everyone.Lessee... I'll juggle miniature pinschers, Phyllis can invoke a few friendly supernatural beings to attend the party, Gia and Sarah can organize the party games as well as be the official greeters, Selwyn can make balloon animals, and Daividh can be our clown! :)Oh, and Mike C. can be The Godfather, make a brief appearance, and then duck into a side room where people can go to pay homage to him and ask for special favors. :)It's going to be such a COOL party! We'll invite EVERYONE in the Kingdom of Behindthenameland. :)-- Nanaea

Oh yes, it mothers' day is pretty much celebrated in my neck of the woods too :)Every day is a (demolition) party with Nephele :) But I suspect your party will steal the show!P.S. Gift requests by Nephele : modems, telephones, precious out-of-print books and rare prints, fine antiques, etc, all of which are chewed, grinded and pulverized before your terrified eyes :)

Native American spirits are cool. I'll leave the Supernatural Invitation List up to you. :)-- Nanaea

NanaeaI was thinking about "beings" besides the Native American spirits, like one or two Slavic deities, a couple of Irish "supernatural"s, someone from the Middle East, etc.Ah, well. I'll try an open invocation and hope the guests who attend are reasonably friendly and the only thing to die is the birthday cake. :)Phyllis (aka Sidhe Uaine or Gaia Euphoria)

I like that ALOTBalloons are nice and make funny sounds. But what are you going to do then?
vote up1vote down
Selwyn it will be a pleasure if you were ti provide balloon festivities. But whatever you do, please, PLEASE, do not recite any poetry :PP

Oh brother, there goes the cottleston pie :)I had thought of writing one word on each of the balloons from Winnie the Pooh's nice birthday poem called "Cottleston pie."
As you will probably remember Pooh sings it to Eeyore, who is as always rather gloomy:)
Buuuuut since I am not allowed to do that ON the day itself I will simply have to quote it right now!
Cottleston, cottleston, cottleston pie
A fly can’t bird, but a bird can fly
Ask me a riddle and I will reply:
“Cottleston, cottleston, cottleston pie”Cottleston, cottleston, cottleston pie
A fish can’t whistle and neither can I
Ask me a riddle and I will reply:
“Cottleston, cottleston, cottleston pie”Cottleston, cottleston, cottleston pie
Why does a chicken, I don’t know why
Ask me a riddle and I will reply:
“Cottleston, cottleston, cottleston pie”
