I think this could very well be a spelling variation of Meshach.

Thank you! I do think it's likely, since Shadreck is also a common name, which could explain how -ach became -eck.

I agree. Lots of biblical names were introduced by missionaries and have lasted through being used to honour grandparents etc; I've seen references to men named Abednego and Shadrach, so why not Meshach?
