Denil
Hi!
I resently met a guy named Denil. He has Bulgarian and Turkish roots and pronounced it "deh-NEEL".
I've gotten some search results on the name, that I don't entirely trust, saying it's Hindi or Malayalam. Considering his origin, I have my doubts about his name being from India.
Do any of you have a clue where it's from and what it means? Or is it a variation of another name?

Given the roots of the bloke, I'd also consider a variant of Daniil which is close in pronunciation.
Thank you!
I did several searches. The only satisfying result was what I found on names.org. It says that Denil is actually Indian; it derives from Sanskrit, which is a more ancient language, basis of all the Indo-European languages. For some it means "Gods' messenger", for others it means "Creator" and is another name of the Hindu god Shiva. Alwayson names.org I found, among the related names, Daniel & family.
Thank you!
