Nutkja as Plautdietsch (Low German) form of Nutka
Hi, I wanted to know if it is possible to add the spelling (and pronunciation) for a variant of the name Nutka. Nutkja is the Plautdietsch (Low German) form of the Polish name Nutka which is a diminutive of the name Anna. There is very little information about this name online but based on my research of Plautdietsch this is how Nutka would be pronounced and spelled by most Plautdietsch speakers.
Plautdietsch is the language of the Dutch-Russian Mennonites and is still spoken in some communities mainly in Canada and the US. The kj "kyuh" sound is very prevalent in Plautdietsch.
This diminutive was used for my great-grandmother Anna and my family has always pronounced it like "nʊt-kjʌ" but I have also heard it pronounced "nuːt-kjʌ". From my understanding Plautdietsch pronunciations can vary region to region.
Does anyone know where I can submit this information to be added to the Nutka page? I know I can send it through the "submit a name" feature but there is little to no information about this name online so I wanted to send some of this information with it.
