When children are listed as Baby on the birth certificate, it means that either they have left the hospital before the parents chose a name, or (unfortunately more likely) the baby was never given a name because it was stillborn or died shortly after birth.
If you check the raw numbers, you will find that there were 118 boys listed as Baby in Alberta for 2005 and 124 girls. That's probably not a significant difference. The reason Baby shows up on the Top 25 for girls and not boys is therefore an artifact of there being many more boys given the top names than there are girls given the top names. Parents are more varied in the names they give girls.
