Can anyone tell me what's the meaning of the name Bellerophon/Bellerofon (as in the hero in Greek mythology)? Also, does anyone know if there are any short forms derived from it?

My Greek dictionary says:
BELLEROPHONTES: bellos/bella (radiance) + phaino (appear)
