My family name is Zion we have a family history that goes back generations. We never considered the name to be political in any form and we are very proud of the name.

Zion is a mountain. Zionism was a movement to establish a Jewish state in Palestine. Perhaps now it is to reclaim Mt Zion (the temple mount) itself.
