Origin of the name Akusuma/Aksuma/Aksum/Axum
According to Maragoli's, Logoli or Rogoli of Kenya, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania, the word "Aksuma" means Barter traders or traders.
According to Maragoli's own history they are the founders of all major barter trade centers found in most part of East Africa including "Mbale" of Uganda and Kenya and Kasala of Sudan, kasala meaning "trade under the tree."
In Western Kenya and Nyanza-Akisumu their first city in Rusinga island, they named it Akusuma meaning Barter traders.
They're famously known throughout Western Kenya for establishing pre colonial and pre Arab barter trade centers that specialized in pottery, ceramics, earthwares, mats, livestock, ivory and grains trade.
The first Akusuma market was established in Saudi Arabia at the border of Iran and Saudi.
