The origin of the name/Word Maasai was derived from Maragoli's of Kenya, also known as Logoli/logol of Uganda and Tanzania.
The word Maasai comes from "Maasai" meaning "blood"
Maragoli began calling them Maasai because these Nilotes drunk blood and wore red Shuka as a symbol of blood.
This is before colonization or Arab slave trade.
