Campion
Name traces back to the Father Campion, priest to Queen Elizabeth. He also was one of the priest who was sent from Rome, at grave physical peril, to reintroduce catholsim to England, after Henry the Vlll had changed the national religion, to allow himself to remarry, when Rome would not grant his annulment.
Also, the name Campion means, well seasoned, known by reputation, victorious warrior.

Father Campion must have got it from somewhere! It is the name of a wild flower, and might be a form of the word 'champion' if that plant was used for winners' garlands. In which case, 'victorious warrior' would be an accurate meaning, though 'victorious sportsman' might be more likely.
