Message: "Noor" - Behind the Name

Hello all

So when I was 13 I dated a boy called Noor. He was a Muslim lad who said his name was short for Noah.

I cannot provide any evidence for this as I lost contact with him a very long time ago and I cannot find him on social media. Does anybody else have experience with the nickname Noor for Noah?

The muslim form of Noah is Nuh. Since the final h is pronounced in Arabic and Turkic, you might hear it as Noor, but Noor (Nur) itself is a muslim name for girls (predominantly).

He wrote it as Noor too (we exchanged emails), but Nuh could explain this, and perhaps he just preferred Noor over Nuh.
