If you put it in the notes, only editors will see it, so it's fairly private. It's just to prove that the names exist. You can submit "corrections" including sources here, using the second box: https://www.behindthename.com/submit/submit
For names where you can find bearers in multiple English speaking countries, you can just put English rather than English (American). So if your relative is a Brit but you have also seen American bearers, English is a better usage. I can correct this if you confirm.
