Any info on the name Vidaleto?
I'm trying to find the meaning of my middle name, Vidaleto. It's my grandpa's first name. The only information we really have is that it was his great great grandfather's name and that it's supposedly French. Internet searching has yielded absolutely nothing. The closest thing I have found that could be related, and only based on the first 4 letters is a commune in central France called "Vidallait", but I think that's a stretch. Any help is appreciated :)

Based on the information you gave, I strongly suspect that Vidaleto is a hispanicisation of the French given name Vitalet. It is a diminutive (as it contains the French masculine diminutive suffix -et) of Vital, which is the French form of Vitalis.
Thank you for the response! I’ll have to check this name out.
Also, for some more context/information, I'm curious where it came from become his siblings ended up with relatively "ordinary" names such as Leroy, Margaret, Armando, etc. but we ended up with such an obscure unheard of one.
