I know that Chiquita is a Latin diminutive form of Chica. How it ended up with your non-Latin GGM will prove to be another story. Did she live in a neighborhood where Spanish was a strong influence? Other names like Anita & Bonita have moved into the non-Latin mainstream, in similar fashion.
